[ Neat, concise, practical penmanship. Erwin does quite a lot of writing. ]
I would like to extend my thanks to those so quick to help newcomers. It is very much appreciated. Though I believe I am fairly well informed at this point, I have a few more specific questions:
Lastly: I ask that Jean Kirstein and Marco Bott contact me as soon as possible.

[ Erwin's been in Luceti only a few days, but he'd memorized the layout of the village on the first. Food, clothing, weapons--he knows where to find these things, and he's been noting all of the smaller shops besides. He's far from content, but he is adapting, though still on high alert. He is well aware already that there is little he will be able to do immediately. But he can prepare to do more, and that is precisely what he is planning on.
He can be found at the smithy looking at weapons, at the grocery store (Levi wants non-perishables, wants to stock up), sitting outside looking through his journal--green cape around his shoulders, hiding his wings with more wings--or just about anywhere else by appointment. ]
[ warning: there will likely be spoilers for recent attack on titan manga chapters in castmembers' threads. while we won't drop spoilers on someone unrelated, if you're reading along, beware! ]

I would like to extend my thanks to those so quick to help newcomers. It is very much appreciated. Though I believe I am fairly well informed at this point, I have a few more specific questions:
- Have you ever been drafted for service in the war? Volunteered for it? If so, what was asked of you?
- How frequently are you and/or those you know taken in for experimentation? If you have first-hand experience with this, do you recall what happened?
- Based on your experiences in Luceti, what is your personal opinion of the Malnosso?
Lastly: I ask that Jean Kirstein and Marco Bott contact me as soon as possible.

She picks up another notepad and jots down Erwin's name, leaving space for additional notes. After some thought, she jots down Jean's name, wondering if it's the same man she spoke to about military and titans.
When she writes in the journal, her handwriting is also neat, perfectly legible and spaced. The handwriting of someone who also does a lot of writing.]
Being relatively new, I can't speak about the drafts or the experiments, but having recently returned from a mission, I am willing to share information about that if you are interested.
[Written]
I am very interested. Thank you for responding. Please share whatever you are comfortable with.

On the 10th, I reported to the tunnel entrance at 0700 to await transportation. Another person from the enclosure was also selected to join the mission, though we did not sign up together nor were we aware we would be working together until that morning.
A droid came to meet us, confirmed our identities, then we were knocked out. When we came to, we were at Depot 8.
Depot 8 is a small supply depot on the edge of a desert. The weather is very hot and dry with occasional dust storms. The level of technology is far lower than the village with no electricity and water through pumps and well systems. The setting is reminiscent of a time period known as the "Old West" in my world.
In addition to fellow village from Luceti, there were five other volunteers from other enclosures; one from Excenn, one from Deese, two from R'Car, one from Wyoming. Our assigned duties were to provide Sheriff Lyca Williams, the head of law enforcement in Depot 8, with assistance. We were provided guns and ammo and told we were allowed to carry out justice as we saw fit.

- Drafts no. I've been on three, but that is conscription only. There are however missions, and those are voluntary. Between the two I have commanded a naval vessel, served as second officer and mission leader for this enclosure on another, acted as an infiltrator, a doctor, a fighter, and even an actor. [And assassin.]
- Once. I remember everything in detail. The experience is not up for discussion.
- I only speak off the journals on that matter, sorry.
Written
- Understood. If I may ask, how long have you been in residence here?
- It is that matter in which I am particularly interested. Would you be adverse to meeting?
Written
- Over three years.
- I would not. Is there a preference of location?

Reporting in, sir. [He taps his pencil against the page, wondering if he should add anything else. But fuck it, this is probably good enough.]

Thank you for your prompt response, Cadet.
Captain Levi has briefed me on relevant information concerning yourself and Trainee Bott, but I would like to meet with both of you in person.
written
Understood. [Cadet. Trainee. The difference is strange to see on the page, black against stark white.] Where should we meet?

1. I got drafted once but my family beat up the drones that came for me so I didn't have to go.
2. I've never gotten taken in but I know people who have. Mostly I get caught up in the ones that they do to everyone, or lots of groups of people. I can tell you about those experiments if you want though.
3. Which ones?? I like some of the ones that work here. Carol's nice, and Mr. Bill helped us out sort of with the dark spirit thing. Kinda. And the one with sunglasses, I think he's kinda okay although he's boring. I dunno the other ones, though.
[ Very usefully written during lunch, as she sits on the bench inside the waiting/display area of the smithy, having gone to visit Raven. How lucky that the journals don't convey crumbs. ]
written;
1. Your family must be very strong. Are they all here with you?
2. Yes, if you do not mind. I am very curious to hear about those experiments as well.
3. Do you interact with them often? Carol and Mr. Bill?
[ This is the first time he's heard them named. That's interesting. ]
written;
2. Well the last one was mistletoe and I didn't get hit with that, and then before that we went to the moon and then before THAT we go invaded and the people invading Luceti put us all in a dream thing where we remembered different stuff. I had an older brother and a different family and did ballet there.
3. Not really, 'cause Mr. Bill lives in the tunnels I think and I'm not allowed down there. Carol's our liason (is that how you spell that?????) so she lives in Luceti and I guess she used to run the school before Sifu Raine but I don't remember that. She's nice I think.

There's no way it's true. He doesn't doubt information given by Captain Levi himself, but even so... It has to be a mistake. There has to be a reason.
Either way, he went to bed with his thoughts reeling and had some time to mull over it. Now it's three days later and suddenly his name is being mentioned alongside Jean's in a journal entry. An entry written by Commander Smith of the Survey Corps, apparently. What is even going on? It takes almost a full minute for the stunning surprise to really die down, allowing him to come up with a coherent response.]
Marco Bott reporting in, sir.
[Written]
[ He'll be less formal when they actually speak; but for now, titles. ]
Cadet Kirstein has mentioned you to me in the past.
[ Mostly about how you died at Trost and Annie stole your gear, but y'know. ]
I would like to meet with both of you in person, however. I think it would be best for all of us to convene together.
[Written]
He pauses for a moment, chewing on his lip, then writes down his next response.]
Yes, that sounds like a very good idea. We could arrange a private meeting somewhere.

[grocery shopping]
Levi never thought about it much; the Survey Corps was given rations, and their food was plain compared to some of the things the gluttonous merchant class likely ate. But it had been a large, welcome improvement over having to steal scraps just to survive.
Standing inside the marketplace, with seemingly endless varieties of food (or what was supposedly food), he may as well have stepped into some kind of psychotic dream.
Levi crosses his arms, and anything that doesn't look like it could possibly have come from any kind of natural, organic source he eyes with deep suspicion. ]
The fuck is all this shit?
yesssss
Advanced preservation?
[ If he had to hazard a guess. He has one hand on his hip as he turns the can around in the other. ]
Though I don't know what half of this is to begin with.
[ Like, that display of fresh bananas over there. What even are those things? ]

I'm not eating anything I don't know what it is. It's bad enough we don't know where any of this comes from except that it's provided by the creeps that brought us here.
[and if their host, the Malnosso, is so fond of experimentation, it's entirely possible that something has been put into what they claim to be "food" as another way to screw with them. Levi's not going to give them that chance, if possible.]

Do you have any idea what the connection between that city and Luceti may have been?
[Written]
The Malnosso ran it. It's called Terrace. It needed protecting so we got dragged up there.

I've been on the last two drafts. The duties requested are fairly typical of most fighting situations, though Luceti residents seem to be given a good deal more freedom in how we fight. Mostly, we're told to kill whatever we can. I believe we're used mainly as shock troops.
Experimentation I would be uncomfortable discussing over the journal. Though I'd meet with you willingly to talk about some of the basics.
As for my opinion of the Malnosso, when I have the opportunity I intend to tear them apart with my bare hands. I hope that is a satisfactory answer.
[Written]
Interesting. Where did this fighting take place?
More than satisfactory. Thank you for your honesty. I am very curious about experimentation, and if you are not opposed to discussing it with me, I would very much like to meet you. Do you have a preferred location?
